To learn for the sake of learning

IMO:
Well, this proved my comment on the falling of the education ideology, which students focus on working experience more than on the theory. It is necessary to rephrase that “Knowledge” consists of both theory and experience. If there is a lack of theory, human’s creation will become rare and will lead to degeneration of the whole species.

多媒體與我（一）

記得小學時，有一次作文，題目是“我的志願”，我的答案是“設計師”，其實當時我對這個名詞還是不太認識，指的是平面方面的美術設計（當時還未懂得甚麼是“3D”）。我小時候喜歡畫畫，亦善長畫畫，也吸引了不少同學的仰慕（當然不少是女同學）。總之，那時我熱衷於美術。

在中學時代，我開始接觸Internet（1996）─那令我瘋狂的電腦，令我終日埋首於電腦中的Internet。同時，我對Programming著了迷。那令我著了迷的，是Pascal，是寫program的那種成功感，也是我的一位啟蒙同學，不錯，是啟蒙同學。他真的很快，想得快，做的快，而且很有遠見。Computer、Internet、Programming，這通通是他介紹的。雖然已經失去聯絡多年，但到今天我仍然不時拿他作人生的燈塔── 我有時會問自己“假若我是他，我下一個人生目標會是甚麼呢？”。雖然在中學時代我愛上了電腦，但仍不忘參加一些繪畫或設計比賽，成績（指比賽結果）也不錯呢。

可是由高中（會考）到了預科，我對Internet的瘋狂程度到了極點，我的分數也到了極“低”點，不難想像的，我對美術的投入程度也消減了不少。但是，我仍然喜愛美術。但所指的，卻有點不同──我愛做網頁（也是從啟蒙同學的他那裡開始的）。我與多媒體（當時我還未聽過這個名詞）的接觸，可算是中四那年（1997）的一次宣傳香港的網頁設計比賽中，用上了Flash（3.0）開始的。

快預科畢業時，有同學問我，“你打算選哪科大學科目？”，其實當時我的心裡還未有答案的，但是又不能失威於同學面前，我答他“首選生物科技，次選傳播”。我會想到傳播的原因很簡單，因為我想，那就是美術設計。後來填表選科時，傳播系中真是有一個設計課程的。這就是我對美術設計的第三個看法（繪畫，網頁，傳播）。

最後，因為成績不好，我到了澳洲升學。在大學裡我修讀的是Multimedia（Networks and Computing），多媒體（網絡與電腦）。記得選科前我還徘徊於IT與Multimedia之間，最後，我的決定是基於“外國的藝術教育比香港好，藝術發展比較有優勢，而澳洲的IT卻比香港落後”這一個看法來下的。現在是我的第二年。記得最初入學前，我對多媒體的認識不深，在選科前，到處詢問“甚麼是多媒體？”這一類問題，又剛好有一位叔叔剛做了香港一間大專學院多媒體科的主任，所以我亦從他那裡對“多媒體”這個名詞認識了不少。那時，多媒體對我而言，就是指3D。

Lucky Life

五月二十三日 晴

今天我看到了一個前所未有的景象─道路兩旁泊滿了車子，學校則的停車場也滿滿的，而學生們都很守秩序地，排成了一行長長的隊伍，就在校園外，打了一個蛇餅。但是，他們要進的，不是試場，不是甚麼名人的演講，更不是甚麼學術研討會。

現在是晚上十時正，他們當中大部份是大學生，也有的是高中生，而在我面前察身而過的，身子矮矮的，那怕是名初中生。他們將要去狂歡。不錯，他們將要進入的，是狂歡派對 rave party。

其實這種情景，並不真的那麼特別，只不過是因為今天是甚麼大日子罷了，或許是甚麼節日，或許是中學課程完結；但令人感慨的是，這樣擠擁的情形，是我從未在校園裡見過的，哪管是白天或是晚上，就是看不出原來墨爾本有這麼多學生，也想不到狂歡派對的號召力會比大學的號召力大出那麼多。

最近與一位本地朋友交談時，他說澳洲是一個 lucky place。這晚，或是每逢星期二、五、六都能看到的，我想就是在 lucky place 裡的 lucky life 吧。

Yeah this is my first blog !

I have been writing online “diary” since May in 2003, however it wasn’t really “diary” becoz the major was webpage collection. I saved some good articles and links that I was recently interested in or I thought that are worth keeping. And today, 22 May, I started a blog from blogger published in blogspot. It looks simple and reliable.
